One thing I love about Jesus is the fact that He has a heart for people. His authenticity, humility and desire to see humanity reconciled to the Father is echoed in the fact that gave His life to set people free. Luke 14:1-6, also demonstrates this beautifully. Here we read about Jesus healing a man who has dropsy (abnormal swelling of the body) on the Sabbath day.
14 Now it happened, as He went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees to eat bread on the Sabbath, that they watched Him closely. 2 And behold, there was a certain man before Him who had dropsy. 3 And Jesus, answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”
4 But they kept silent. And He took him and healed him, and let him go. 5 Then He answered them, saying, “Which of you, having a donkey or an ox that has fallen into a pit, will not immediately pull him out on the Sabbath day?” 6 And they could not answer Him regarding these things.”
I love what Jesus did when He saw the man:
1. He took him (He found the one)
2. He healed him (Jesus addressed his need)
3. He let him go
If there’s one thing about Jesus that I’d like for our generation to know, is that He’s open to receive you, He’s ready to heal you and He wants you to be free.
Not only free from sickness but also the pressures/strains of life. Why? Because He desires closer intimacy with us. We were designed to be in relationship with God and He gave is life so we can live life and live it to the fullest. The message I carry and share is not a message of fear but of peace and not one of bondage but freedom.
We all have those things which may hinder our walk with God, therefore I challenge you to really pray and let go of those things which may hold you back into becoming the person that God wants you to be. Those things could be a negative mindset, bad habits, ungodly relationships, distractions greed, lust etc. You see Jesus doesn’t look at your situation and wants you to remain the same – He wants to address the issue so that you can to be free. Whatever that ‘thing’ is, just lay it at the feet of Jesus. There’s no condemnation in Christ and there is no sin too big that He cannot reach.
I would have loved to have seen that guys face after he received his healing after being bound by that sickness for so long. Because in Jesus not only do we receive victory but freedom.
Be inspired and encouraged. It's a new season.
Will write again soon.
